Sports Injury Treatment
Getting you back to your sport is the easy part. Making sure the same injury does not return is the work.
Treating the Injury and the Cause
Most sports injuries are not accidents. A hamstring that tears, an Achilles that flares, a shoulder that starts complaining after six weeks of pressing - these usually have a history. Something was moving poorly, something was weak, or the training load climbed faster than the tissue could adapt.
Treating only the painful tissue gets you back on the field. Treating what caused the tissue to fail is what keeps you there. Dr. Nario brings a background in kinesiology, rehabilitation and years as a personal trainer to that second question, which is where most sports injury care falls short.
What We Treat
Sprains and strains
Ankle sprains, hamstring and calf strains, groin injuries - acute soft-tissue injuries and the incomplete recoveries that follow them.
Overuse and tendon injuries
Tennis and golfer's elbow, patellar and Achilles tendon pain, shin splints, rotator cuff irritation.
Shoulder problems
Impingement, loss of overhead range, and the pain that shows up in the third set rather than the first.
Knee and hip pain
Runner's knee, IT band pain, hip impingement and the movement faults that generate them.
Foot and ankle
Plantar fascia pain, chronic ankle instability, and recovery that stalled after the original sprain.
Back and neck in athletes
Loading the spine under a barbell, on a bike or in a pool creates demands that need addressing on their own terms.
How Care Works
Assess the whole chain
A painful knee is often a hip or ankle problem that surfaced at the knee. We assess how you actually move - squat, hinge, single-leg control, overhead position - rather than examining only the spot that hurts.
Settle the tissue
Manual therapy, soft-tissue work and adjustment where joints have lost motion. Combined with clear guidance on what to keep doing and what to pause, because complete rest is rarely the right answer.
Reload progressively
Rehabilitation is structured loading. We build the injured tissue back to handling more than your sport demands, rather than stopping the moment the pain goes.
Return to sport properly
Going back too early is the single most reliable route to reinjury. We set criteria for return based on what you can demonstrate, not on how many weeks have passed.
For Athletes at Every Level
Competitive athletes, weekend warriors, people who found running at forty, and everyone in a Saturday league - the principles are the same. What changes is the demand you are returning to, and the plan should reflect that. A recreational golfer and a collegiate track athlete need different endpoints, and we build toward the one that is actually yours.
- Pain that only appears during or after activity is worth investigating early
- An injury that keeps recurring has an unaddressed cause
- Reduced range of motion is usually a warning ahead of an injury, not just a nuisance
- Training through sharp pain rarely ends well
