Corrective Exercise & Rehabilitation
Treatment gets you out of pain. Corrective exercise is what stops you ending up back here in six months.
Why Treatment Alone Is Not Enough
An adjustment restores motion to a restricted joint. Soft-tissue work releases a muscle that has been guarding. Both help, sometimes dramatically. But neither changes the reason the joint became restricted or the muscle started guarding in the first place.
If your hips do not extend properly, your low back will keep compensating. If your deep core does not brace before you lift, your spine will keep taking load it was not ready for. Corrective exercise addresses those underlying patterns - which is why it is usually the difference between temporary relief and a result that lasts.
What We Work On
Deep core control
Not crunches. The timing and coordination of the muscles that stabilise your spine before you move it.
Hip mobility and strength
Restricted or weak hips are behind an enormous proportion of low-back pain. Fixing them changes the load on the spine.
Postural endurance
Holding good position for eight hours is a strength quality, not a matter of willpower. It can be trained.
Movement patterns
How you squat, hinge, push, pull and rotate. Retraining these changes how load distributes across your whole body.
Scapular control
Shoulder blade position and control underlies most shoulder and neck complaints in desk workers and lifters alike.
Single-leg stability
Walking, running and climbing stairs all happen on one leg. Balance and control there matter more than most people expect.
How It Works
Assess how you actually move
Dr. Nario watches you move through the patterns your body relies on. What is restricted, what is weak, what fires late, and what is compensating for something else.
Start with what you can do well
Exercises are chosen to be achievable now, not aspirational. An exercise performed badly reinforces the pattern you are trying to change.
Progress deliberately
As control improves, difficulty increases - more range, more load, less stability, more speed. Progression is the point; a program that never changes stops working.
Keep it realistic
A handful of exercises you will actually do beats a comprehensive program you will abandon in a fortnight. We build around your life, not an ideal one.
Who Benefits Most
- Anyone whose pain keeps returning after it settles
- People recovering from an injury who want to avoid a repeat
- Desk workers whose symptoms track with their working week
- Athletes wanting to address why an injury happened, not just treat it
- Anyone told their posture is the problem but not shown what to do about it
- People who want to stay active for decades rather than seasons
